Zach Hall

Zach Hall
Program Coordinator

Zach was diagnosed with type one diabetes when he was 13 years old. After diagnosis, he immediately became involved in the diabetes community through his participation at Step Out walks, being the 2012 Youth Ambassador for the ADA's Step Out Walk in Metro Detroit, and through multiple fundraising events. Zach was born and raised in Macomb, Michigan, and attended Albion College. In May 2018, Zach graduated with a B.A. in Communication Studies and Spanish. Zach began his journey with CDN in the summer of 2017 as a Summer Intern, and continued on as a Virtual Intern for the 2017-2018 school year as well as a Student Advice Columnist. Zach is excited to be on the CDN team full-time as Program Assistant and looks forward to working with Chapter Leaders from the West region, as well as to develop new leaders for the diabetes community.

Age Diagnosed: 13 years and 2 months

What he likes to do: Travel, play tennis, read a good book, explore Boston, and cook!

Favorite thing about diabetes: Being able to say "I'm high" and watching people without diabetes panic, and everyone with diabetes nodding in agreement.

Least favorite thing about diabetes: Having to constantly justify what type one diabetes is and telling everyone that I did not get T1D because of eating too much sugar.

Biggest T1D struggle while in college: Focusing on an exam instead of being nervous about not being able to check my Dexcom data on my phone.
