William M. "Bill" McDonald has been the Dean of Students at the University of Georgia since January 1, 2011. Bill's prior experiences include: 8.5 years as Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students at Presbyterian College; twelve years as Vice President and Dean of Students at Carson-Newman College; and nine years of residence life experience at University of Memphis, University of Georgia, Catawba College and Lenoir-Rhyne College.

Bill's professional interests include: assessing student perceptions of community with their institution, building campus community, diversity training, ethical decision making, and developing model partnerships between academic and student affairs.

Author of dozens of publications in higher education journals, Bill received an Ed.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, an M.A. from Appalachian State University and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
