University of Virginia CDN Chapter

Our chapter is an informal group of undergraduate students at UVA. Our main function is to volunteer at two monthly pediatric support groups - one at UVA's Children's Hospital and the other in the local community, where we lead educational and fun activities for kids with type 1, striving to serve as mentors and role models. In addition, we participate in College Diabetes Week as a collective effort of education and advocacy through activities such as tabling with educational flyers and cookies in prominent locations on grounds, and advertising for "Wear Blue Friday" where we aim to have everyone on grounds wear blue as a sign of support for those living with type 1.
