Sarah Twomey, The College Diabetes Network, (857) 415-3733

The College Diabetes Network has chosen two student leaders from their NextGen Leadership Program to attend the Children with Diabetes Friends for Life Conference. Meet the students here!

The Friends for Life Conference Conference in Orlando, Florida from July 16-21, 2019, brings together clinicians, researchers, physicians, adults, children, and families affected by diabetes to learn the most current information in diabetes care.

CDN chooses its NextGen young adults to attend diabetes conferences to represent the young adult voice in the sector and gain experience in their desired career fields. While at conferences, these young adults are able to attend sessions, network with those in the diabetes sector, and connect with mentors. At this year’s conference, these students will be on two panels speaking about the transition to adult life, one with a parent audience and one with a peer audience.

The NextGen Leadership Program is designed to harness exceptional talent, and leaders within our network are able to fulfill their interest in serving the diabetes community and experience fewer barriers entering the professional diabetes sector through this program.

“We are proud to bring these leaders to the Friends for Life conference, as it is a great way for them to interact with young people with diabetes and their families, as they’ll one day be doing in their careers,” says Christina Roth, CEO and Founder of CDN.

The College Diabetes Network (CDN) is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is singularly focused on providing young adults with T1D the peer connections they value, and expert resources they need, to successfully manage the challenging transition to independence at college and beyond.

Children with Diabetes focuses on care today and a cure tomorrow. As an advocate and global resource, they provide support, education and inspiration to empower families and all people living with diabetes to enjoy healthy, enriched lives.
