FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The College Diabetes Network (CDN) is pleased to announce that Christina Roth, CEO and Founder, has been recognized as one of Diabetic Living’s 2019 Diabetes Champions. Diabetic Living is a magazine that empowers people living with diabetes to make healthier choices every day. It provides support, inspiration, and actionable advice to millions living with type one and type two diabetes.
Christina has led CDN as its Chief Executive Officer since her appointment in 2012. Diagnosed with type one diabetes at age 14, Christina became a committed patient advocate while in college where she started CDN as a campus group in 2009. Due to the overwhelming response to the initial group, Christina expanded CDN into a national non-profit organization serving young adults with diabetes. Headquartered in Boston, CDN is the only organization dedicated to young adults with diabetes and has established collaborations with national organizations such as the American Diabetes Association (ADA), JDRF, the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and more. CDN has fundamentally changed the way the diabetes industry thinks about and supports the 18-to-26-year-old age group with diabetes. Nine years ago, the transition from childhood into adulthood with this disease was an afterthought for many in the industry. Now it is a key consideration.
Only five individuals are selected as Diabetes Champions each year and Christina is honored to be included in this group of inspiring individuals.
“Christina is an outstanding and inspirational leader for CDN and for the diabetes community as a whole,” said John L. Brooks III, Chair of the CDN Board of Directors. “We are thrilled to see her recognized as a leader amongst other change agent leaders in diabetes.”
CDN is approaching their ten year anniversary in 2020 and looks forward to sharing exciting updates and progress on supporting all young adults with T1D to thrive in college and beyond.
About the College Diabetes Network
The College Diabetes Network (CDN) is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is singularly focused on providing young adults with T1D the peer connections they value, and expert resources they need to successfully manage the challenging transition to independence at college and beyond.
CDN creates a community of young adults with diabetes; a community run by students for students. CDN supports them in creating peer networks on campus, facilitates connections between students and local resources, and provides tools to reduce the barriers of running these on-campus Chapters.
