Parents & Family

Intro Description

We know that being the caregiver of a T1D is a tough job. Because of that, we also know

that seeing your T1D off to college, while encouraging their independence, may feel like

one of the hardest things you’ll ever have to do. CDN is here to help support both of you.

Description

CDN Ambassadors act as a local resource for CDN Chapters to provide support, assistance, and a friendly face. This is a great way to help out local students with T1D while yours is away!

Some of the things ambassadors do include:

Cook meals for local Chapters

Act as an emergency contact for members

Help host Chapter meetings

Help to spread the word about CDN to local organizations, hospitals, and clinics, and the local community

Participate in Chapter events as a co-host, guest speaker, or simply an advisor.

T1D Parent
Quote Description

"[being a parent of a T1D] is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. It's hard to acknowledge T1D can be managed by our teenagers/college age children when they are given the opportunity to do so. When we assume and manage these essential T1D responsibilities we are doing our children a disservice which creates debilitating stress on both the T1D and the parent."

Independence with T1D
Quote Description

"Thank you, CDN, for your gracious support of young people with T1D as they leave the full-time support of home. There's nothing better than seeing your grown child become fully independent while navigating the world of diabetes!"
