  • My connection to T1D: I was diagnosed at age 12. 
  • My least favorite thing about having diabetes in college is my Dexcom urgent low glucose alarm going off in class.
  • My favorite thing about having T1D is educating people who don't understand the disease/ unknowledgeable about the disease.

Brandon Ty Yunker

  • I am a sophomore at Eastern Oregon University.
  • I am studying Molecular Biology with a focus in Pre-Medicine, and minoring in Chemistry and Psychology.
  • I was diagnosed with type one diabetes in September of 2011 at the age of 12, exactly one week after my birthday.
  • My least favorite thing about diabetes is when people ask me if I have checked my blood PRESSURE instead of my blood SUGAR.
  • My most favorite thing about having type one diabetes is being a part of the Chris Dudley Foundation family, and the network of people I have met through being a camper and counselor at Chris Dudley Basketball Camp.

  • I am a junior nursing major with a psychology minor at Stevenson University and am on track to graduate Spring 2020.
  • Connection to T1D: I was diagnosed at age 17, my senior year of high school.
  • My least favorite thing about having T1D in college is the amount of times I have been asked if my pump is a pager or an MP3 player and when my cgm goes off in the middle of an exam.
  • My favorite thing about T1D is that my experiences lead me to realize my dream of becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator and working with children who are newly diagnosed!
