Position Overview 

ECHO Diabetes Action Network (EDAN) is a citizen sector based organization that exists to combat systems failures in how our society educates clinicians and approaches medical management for people with diabetes. We seek to democratize diabetes specialty knowledge to reach frontline healthcare professionals and empower underserved populations living with diabetes. We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate induvial to support implementation of more robust social media presence and integration into EDAN programing. This is a part-time opportunity and we are expecting around 8 to 20 hours per month with compensation commensurate with experience. 

Social Media Specialist 

  • Collaborate with EDAN staff and leadership to develop social media campaigns, manage reputation, identify key players and coordinate actions
  • Develop, implement and manage social media strategy after conducting competitive research, platform determination, messaging and audience identification
  • Plan, create, publish and share new content (including original text, images, video and HTML) on a frequent basis that that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Set up and optimize ECHO Diabetes Action Network (EDAN) pages within each platform to increase the visibility of EDAN’s social content
  • Monitor SEO and engagement and suggest content optimization
  • Moderate all user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each community
  • Create editorial calendars and syndication schedules
  • Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and social media best practices to measure the success of every social media campaign, then use that information to refine future campaigns
  • Ensure content is informative and appealing
  • Bolster EDAN network by facilitating interacting with industry professionals and influencers via social media

Qualifications and Skills

  • Positive attitude and alignment with mission of EDAN 
  • Interest in addressing health disparities and a special interest and passion to support people living with diabetes
  • Proven working experience in social media marketing or as a Digital Media Specialist
  • Ability to understand and implement social media strategy to target frontline primary care healthcare professionals 
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Adequate knowledge of web design, web development, and SEO
  • Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
  • Fluency in English
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media or Public Relations
