Hello from sunny Florida! Jo, Tina, and I are sitting eating lunch at the Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, FL for the 2013 Children with Diabetes Friends for Life Conference! I’m so happy to be here—it’s absolutely beautiful outside, and I can’t wait for the conference to start! This is my first year at the CWDFFL conference, and I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about the experience: apparently there are all kinds of activity for “First Timers,” as well as events for college-age attendees (like myself) in addition to everything else the conference has to offer. The conference officially begins tomorrow and ends Sunday morning, though we arrived at the resort last night (Monday). After a refreshing trip to the gym this morning, the CDN team will spend the rest of the day prepping for the conference: we have a booth in the exhibit hall, and Tina will be giving a presentation Friday afternoon! I’ll be helping man the CDN booth during the week, but I will also be attending sessions throughout the day on all kinds of topics (which I will be sure to blog about for you all!). The days will be spent between the booth and the sessions, and the nights sound like they’ll be filled with activities and dinners! I’m looking forward to learning some new diabetes tips and getting up-to-date on the latest diabetes technologies and treatments. I’m also hoping to meet some new people at this event—from what I’ve heard, CWDFFL is the mecca of diabetes conferences—all the big diabetes names and companies come to this three-day event. I especially hope to meet some diabetics my own age—how cool would that be?!? I’m scheduled to attend a dinner tomorrow night for 18-22-year-olds, and Jo said there will be a handful of CDN Student Leaders at the conference, so I’m sure I’ll make some new diabuddies!
That’s all for now—I’ll keep you posted throughout the week! Wish you were all here in Florida with us!
